So the big day is approaching. A little girl’s dream coming true. Now the wedding dress, the budget, feeling
pretty and having fun – vs- getting totally stressed. 
My wedding dress was the highlight
of my special day. The photos and the
dress are still so fun to look at and will be forever remembered. I felt so pretty in my wedding dress.
Shopping for a wedding dress can be
overwhelming. I relate buying a wedding
dress to buying a home. I left my home
selections to my realtor and my wedding dress consultant choose my dress. Find a wedding dress shop that you are
comfortable with the staff, they know how to have fun, they give you options,
allow for emotions and questions. Find a
wedding dress shop that has a tailor on staff and that will adjust the dress
for no additional fee.
Many girls get overwhelmed and feel
that they need to go to every wedding dress shop. In the end many girls get frustrated and end
up wearing a dress that fits their budget rather than fitting their
personality. Personalities and budgets can and do go
together. Collect pictures of wedding dresses
from magazines and bring them with when trying on dresses.
Start out with some basic ideas
about your wedding dress; white or ivory, short or long, formal or informal, long
or short sleeve, simple or exquisite. Is
your wedding indoors or outdoors?
Just because there is not the perfect wedding
dress on the hanger does not mean the perfect wedding dress cannot be
ordered. Allow 6-8 months when ordering
a wedding dress.
Go wedding shopping when you are
feeling good. Put on some, not a lot of
makeup, light on the lipstick. Drink
plenty of water and get a good night sleep prior to the wedding dress try-on
day. Sleep and water will make you feel
so much better. Wear some shoes that
maybe close what you have in mind for your wedding.
Bring a friend with and follow your
gut when trying on dresses. How does the
wedding dress make you feel? Try on the
wedding dresses, picking out 4-5 that are first choices. Allow the wedding shop staff to choose
dresses for you as well as you picking dresses.

Be upfront with the wedding shop, money is an issue for most brides and
the wedding shop owners know this. A
wedding dress does not need to be paid for all in one payment. Get the dress that makes you feel like a
princess. A great dress and an ok dress will make an
enormous difference in the way you feel which will be portrayed in your wedding
photos. Make certain there is room for
movement and laughter.
